LET POETRY BE GLORIOUS AND VICTORIOUS Dr. Chilakamarthi Durgaprasada Rao

LET POETRY BE GLORIOUS AND VICTORIOUS

 Dr. Chilakamarthi Durgaprasada Rao

उदयन्तु शतादित्या: उदयन्त्विन्दव: शतम्

न विना कविवाक्येन नश्यत्याभ्यन्तरं तम:

Let a hundred suns dawn. Let a hundred moons dawn. But the darkness in the form of ignorance hidden in the inner hearts of human beings is dispelled by the words of poets alone. Such is the power hidden in the words of a poet. While describing the power of the words of poets

Byron speaks.

But words are things and a small drop of ink

Falling, like dew upon a thought, produces

That which makes thousands, perhaps millions think.

(Don Juan, canto III, st.88.

There is a charm in poetry. It is the poetic spirit that penetrates the heart. Such poetry lifts the heart, elevates the mind, takes the soul to higher and higher regions inspiring it, energizing it, putting a new message and determination in it.

Coming to the present, the poetry of Sri Volety NarasimhaRao is endowed with all these characteristics. He is not only a poet but also a homeopathic physician and above all a great humanist.

He is a person who writes to uplift society with his sublime thoughts. But not for name and fame.

Every line of his work speaks of his clarity of thought. He is a writer having fore - sight far- sight as well as in-sight.

It is well known that the clan of Voleti is known for scholarship and creative writing. Sri voleti Parvateesham and Balantrapu Venkata Rao jointly produced a great deal of literature in Andhradesa. They are prominently known as Venkataparvateesha kavulu. Their literature is not only luminous but also voluminous. Inheriting the poetic talent of his predecessor’s Sri Narasimha Rao composed many poems in three languages. We normally come across people who know three or more languages but rarely come across those who compose poetry in three languages. Sri narasimharao is one of those exemplary personalities who authored many literary gems in English, Hindi, and Telugu.   Creole, earn while learn, work is worship etc. are his writings.

In “Earn While Learn “he advises everyone to earn discipline and moral values for individual, familial, societal, and national development.

In the poetry “work is worship” he describes work as very essential in making life very progressive and purposeful. He went to the extent of saying that work is love, work is wine, and work is Bouquet.

In the poem “Credle “he describes the unnecessary aspirations in human life throughout every stage and suggestively advises us to serve the saints i.e., the enlightened people for redemption of worldly entanglements. Many more literary pieces are to his credit. Thet are left to the imagination of the readers. Normally it is said that the nature of a writer is expressed through his writings. We can estimate the noble qualities of the writer through this poetry.

I am sure that more literary gems will roll out of his pen in future, let the poetry of Dr. V. NarasimDarao be glorious and victorious.
