वेदमनूच्याssचार्योsन्तेवासिनमनुशास्ति || सत्यं वद || धर्मं चर || स्वाध्यायान्मा प्रमद: |||| सत्यान्न प्रमदितव्यम् || धर्मान्न प्रमदितव्यम् || स्वाध्यायप्रवचनाभ्यां न प्रमदितव्यम् ||

मातृदेवो भव || पितृदेवो भव || आचार्यदेवो भव || अतिथिदेवो भव ||  यानि अनवद्यानि कार्याणि तानि सेवितव्यानि || नो इतराणि || श्रद्धया देयम् || अश्रद्धया न देयम् || ह्रिया देयम् ||  भिया देयम् || संविदा  देयम् ||

Having taught the Vedas the Guru exhorts his students:

सत्यं वद= Speak the truth.
  

धर्मं चर = Do your duty 

स्वाध्यायान्मा प्रमद: = Never  swerve from the study of the Veda.

 सत्यान्न प्रमदितव्यम् = Do not cut off the thread of the off spring

 धर्मान्न प्रमदितव्यम्=    Never swerve away from the duty

 स्वाध्यायप्रवचनाभ्यां न प्रमदितव्यम् = Never neglect the study and the teaching of the Vedas

   मातृदेवो भव= May the mother be thy (your) God

 पितृदेवो भव= May the father be thy (your) God   

आचार्यदेवो भव=May the teacher be thy (your) God

 अतिथिदेवो भव=May the guest be your God

यानि अनवद्यानि कार्याणि तानि सेवितव्यानि = Take up the work which is free from blemishes

 नो इतराणि = and not others

श्रद्धया देयम् = whatever you give it should be given with faith

 अश्रद्धया न देयम् = it should not be given without faith

 ह्रिया देयम् = It should be given with modesty

  भिया देयम् = It should be given with humility

 संविदा  देयम् = it should be given with awareness

एष आदेश:= This is the command (rule)

एष उपदेश: = This is the teaching

                                                    Thus, is this be meditated upon
