పిత్రాదిభక్తిస్తు ప్రయత్నసాధ్య:

నీచైర్గతిస్సా సహజా జలస్య

యత్నేన సాధ్యోర్ధ్వగతిస్తు తస్య. ( శ్రీజటావల్లభుల పురుషోత్తం గారి చిత్రశతకం)

తల్లిదండ్రులకు తమ పిల్లలపై ఉండే ప్రేమ సహజమైనది. ఇక పిల్లలకు తల్లి దండ్రులపై గలప్రేమ మాత్రం ప్రయత్నం వల్ల మాత్రమే సిద్ధిస్తుంది. అది నిజమే. నీటికి పైనుండి క్రిందికి ప్రవహించడం చాల సహజమైన ధర్మం. కాని క్రిందనుండి పైకి ప్రవహించాలంటే అది ప్రయత్నం వల్ల మాత్రమే సాధ్యమౌతుంది.

पुत्रेषु रागॊ हि निसर्गजात:

पित्रादि भक्तिस्तु प्रयत्नसाध्य: |

नीचैर्गतिस्सा सहजा जलस्य

यत्नेन साध्योर्ध्वगतिस्तु तस्य || ( श्री जटावल्लभुल पुरुषोत्तमकवे: चित्रशतकात् )

The love of parents to wards their children is natural where as the love of children towards their parents is to be cultivated by effort. The flow of water from higher place to lower region is natural and from lower to higher is to be achieved through effort.
